Re: Network I/O Control 3

Same thing here.

Strange: of 8 VMs I'm currently running on my machine (mainly Windows 10/64, v1607), only one shows the audio driver error.

Re: Migrate from vCenter 5.1 to VCSA 6.5

No EVC. vCenter tells me that ESXi 5.1 hosts is not supported and cant be added so there´s nothing to do on that. Question is if there is any other way except upgrading the hosts to 5.5 or turn off the guest and move them?

Hi,

  Thank you for reply.

     I have a couple of questions:-

   "remove a uplink from your current VDS, create a new temp VDS"

1:- Do i have to create a Temp vmkernel port-group on Temp VDS or Just  VM network port-group on temp VDS with same name as the current VDS?

2:- While doing this will be there any packet loss/packet drop?

Hi

Thank you for reply.

  I have few questions as below:-

  1:- Can you 'borrow' an uplink from your VDS (if you have redundant uplinks)?

     Yes, i can borrow uplink from VDS. But is there any option with out creating VSS on host1/host2?

  2:- Is the vMotion network the same between the clusters?

    Yes, it is same vlan.

3:- If a uplink is borrowed from VDS, do i have to create vm portgroup or vmkernel portgroup on any temp VDS/VSS?

No, there is no way to live migrate virtual machines from hosts managed by different vCenters, exept for vCenter 6.x new cross-vCenter vMotion, but both vCenter (and hosts) should be version 6.0 or later.

Re: Returning a composite type from an Action

Hi,

Let's say the fields of your composite types have names f1, f2, f3, and f4, with values val1, val2, val3, and val4, respectively.

To return the composite value from your action, you have at least two options:

1) Return a Properties object, with keys being the names of your composite fields, and values the values of your object. Something like

var retval = new Properties();
retval.put("f1", val1);
retval.put("f2", val2);
retval.put("f3", val3);
retval.put("f4", val4);
return retval;

2) Return a plain JSON object

var retval = { "f1":val1, "f2":val2, "f3":val3, "f4":val4 }
return retval;

Just VM port group, since you will only migrate virtual machine and not VMkernel adapters. About the name, I think a better approach will give a different name, BUT using the same VLAN.

2:- While doing this will be there any packet loss/packet drop?

Almost nothing, if you keep pining your virtual machine you will may notice 1 ping lost, but that is due the MAC moving from one physical adapter to another, which is acceptable.

Re: vSan disk errors when migrate

Hello Ivan,

First-off, the thresholds for this alarm are very sensitive (30 for Warning, 60 for Failed), congestion only really becomes an issue if it start getting near or past 200 and/or is not transient. But as you suggested these come and go so I don't think you have anything to worry about here, try migrating less at a time if you are still concerned though.

Also note that the congestion type specified is 'ssd congestion':

I will mention that you are using very small SSDs here and that is likely the bottleneck, best practice advises you use a minimum of 10% cache to capacity ratio (5% here, though realistically this advises 10% of USED capacity), either way if you can acquire larger cache-tier SSDs you will likely see better performance.

You can further clarify this by running vSAN Observer while doing these actions and see potential bottlenecks/issues:

Re: Migrazione vcsa 5.5 -> 6.5 obbliga selezionare ambiente X-Large?

Ciao Alessandro,

Saluti

M.
